Kapi,

We are playing around with a Sony laptop on our end running XP with a geforce GO 7400.  Using the 94.24 forceware and 94.24 stereo drivers.  When running in stereo mode the system tends to be unstable at best.  Any ideas on the best driver set to use with this chipset?

Thanks, and welcome to the forums!

May be you should try 162.18 forceware + 162.15 stereo like me(my gfx is a 7600 gt close to your 7xxx), don't forget to use nhancer if you have a dual core for removing one core on choosen app or game, with two core system is really unstable, blue screens, crashs, freezes etc.... drivers can be found on mtbs3d.com and forceware on guru3d.com. Tryed 94 too and it was very unusable.....91.31 was so far better but some games wouldn't work with like il2.

Kapi, it seems that the dual core was the problem, the nhancer tool worked marvels!  Thanks a ton.

Yes, i had this problem with 162.15 beta stereo too, but it seem to work sometimes with 165.01 forceware two cores on i think Nvidia has modified something about dual core in their drivers if you need to test them you need to tweak with regedit to see old panel :

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NvCplApi\Policies] "ContextUIPolicy"=dword:00000001

Without that old panel will not show up and only the new Nvidia panel will be avaible so stereo can't be used or tweaked.

Good work! I've been scared about trying to juggle two cards, but now I've got your guide to follow when my VR920 comes. Thank you for posting this.

@Kapi:

I am wondering if you've run across any particular stereo drivers that aren't compatible with WoW. I've got a test system here that I've been working on in which the stereo drivers are making WoW not come up coherently. I'm testing a few options, but I would be interested in your feedback.

I see a lot of posts here about laptops and updating their nvidia drivers to v91 ect and higher. How is this achieved ?..I have an nvidia geforce 7900 in a toshiba sattilite p100. And the drivers are 8.4.0.0. and I cannot update them with any of the nvidia releases, as everytime I get " there are no drivers compatible with your hardware at this time " message and installation stops. Nvidia say to check with toshiba they do not provide laptop drivers at all , but there are no updated divers for my model on any toshiba site i can see.
I have managed to get the vr920 to run on v 8.4.0.0., but I am not sure the 3d stereo is working optimally ,( is it possible that it works but without much stereo effect, or is more a case of it either works or it dosen't ? ) I am using the latest stereo drivers and they seem to install and all, but I know they recomend video drivers match the stereo ones., But there is no stereo drivers v8.4.0.0 that I can locate either..

cheers

The problem is the .inf file. All drivers have a .inf file that says what hardware they are compatible with.

All nVidia cards use a unified driver, so it is possible to install any nVidia driver on your card by changing the .inf file.

Check out this website:

http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/

It is all about using nVidia drivers on your laptop. Unfortunately it has a bit of a learning curve, and is not easy for beginners. But everything you need is there.

The only problem is that the nVidia driver may be lacking some of the features that your laptop manufacturer added to the driver that came with your laptop, mainly laptop specific things. I had a bit of trouble with my laptop screen not waking up after it went to sleep.
