As noted in a previous post, our new VR Manager 4 includes “Creator” a resource for authoring Extensions that enable stereoscopic 3D video and head tracking support in virtually any openGL or DirectX 8 or 9 games. This eliminates the need to wait for Vuzix to create Extensions and post a new release of VR Manager or for more technically proficient users to edit .ini files.

Now, we have released a new web resource to aid and encourage users to share Extensions they have created or modified. This new resource, call the “VR Extension Exchange” can be accessed through the Support section of either the US or UK Vuzix websites. (www.vuzix.com/support/vr-extensions-exchange.html)

The VR Extension Exchange consists of three parts; a listing of Vuzix Extensions pre-installed in VR Manager 4, a page where you go to download Creator Extensions posted by others, and a page to submit extensions you have created.

VR Extension Exchange: landing page with links
Pre-installed Extensions: Vuzix Extensions, pre-installed in VR Manager
Extension Download: download extensions from here
Extension Submissions: upload Extensions here, to share them with others

At present our Extension Downloads page is pretty bare, but you have to start somewhere. To encourage its growth, Vuzix is offering to reward contributors of new and unique Extensions with a free Lightshield for either an iWear VR920 or a Wrap eyewear model and we’ll even pay to ship it to you.

Check it out… VR Manager 4 empowers you create your own VR Extensions and the Extension exchange provides a means to share them with the VR community. Now its up to you!
