can I use a KVM switch to alternate between monitor and vr920?

where can I see a vr920 in person?  I live near Denver.

A KVM switch is for controlling 2 computers on 1 monitor and 1 set of keyboard/mouse. Most computers today got 2 monitor outputs on their graphiccard. Mine got 2xDVI, many others have 1xVGA + 1xDVI, that way you can chose to extend your desktop to the VR920 etc. Or clone your screen for instance. I got both my monitor running and my VR920 at the same time, in clone mode.

Alternatively you can get a so called "VGA Splitter" wich splits 1 VGA to 2 VGA... This don't have that many settings to set since the VR920 "only" do 1024x768 60hz you have to set your desktop to that. The VGA Splitter can't figure out to have one resolution in your VR920 and one on the desktop like Nvidia control panel can with dual VGA or DVI output on the graphic card.

Hope this gave meaning.
