| | I've got Linux running on a Thinkpad with a VGA port. Will the 920 work under Linux? If so, are drivers available or does it emulate another device? |

| I have the vr920 and i can tell they work on linux (gentoo) as a "normal" monitor, so no 3d or head tracking... someone was writing a linux driver for the vr920 but i don't know what's up to the project.
The wrap 920 will probably work in the same way, so normal monitor is ok, 3d is not (but not sure, why don't you just try it out?) |

Yah, that's why they say the Wrap VGA adapter "Works for side-by-side and anaglyph 3D video". |

| Well, the VGA adapter and Wrap 920 were delivered today. I read the manuals, hooked it up to my Thinkpad and powered up. Unfortunately, the text was so small (Kubuntu) that I could not read it. Hmmm .... rebooted into Vista. I could make out the text -- but just barely. Managed to change the Vista resolution in the control panel to a usable resolution. I tracked down my favorite face-eating alien movie and let her rip. Damn son, I can't believe the performance of these glasses at this price point.
Well, the glasses are good enough. Several of us are now trying to track down a FLIR PathFindIR camera to mate with this beast. Looks like this is gonna be a fun experiment. A question for the mods -- how does the performance of the Wrap 920 compare with the Tac-Eye series of goggles?? Is there somewhere in NW Florida or surrounding area I can demo the Tac-Eye series??

| Yesterday I've received parcel with Vuzix Wrap 920 and Vuzix Wrap VGA Adapter. I try to connect eyewear to my wearable computer (ASUS Eee PC 901 / Eeebuntu). I must say that Wrap 920 can work as additional display with linux system - but OSD Menu (on screen display menu) doesn't work at all. So I cannot adjust eyewear settings, nor see 3D movie in 3D mode.
When I've connected Wrap 920 to my husband's computer with Windows XP, the system started to install a lot of drivers for newly founded devices. I must say that under windows image on Vuzix Wrap 920 is much better, OSD Menu working fine.
Is there some way to make Vuzix Wrap working correctly under Linux? |

If by correctly you mean get the OSD and the 3D working, there is NO way until vuzix releases drivers for linux.
If you mean to simply adjust the image quality, then try to play with the resolution |

Davide, thank you for your reply. As I can see, Vuzix tell nothing about his plans to release linux drivers That's strange - many of wearable computer projects based on non-windows and non-mac systems. Often they are built on ARM platform. So, supporting linux family OS or even sharing some technical documentations may increase number of Vuzix eyewear users. I've sent application for Vuzix Development Program - but I still have no answer... Nor accept, nor decline. |

| Yes, I try to particitpate in this program: http://www.vuzix.com/support/developer_program.html
But still no answer.
By the way, I found the following page: Vuzix VR920 with Linux and active 3D stereo ( http://www.mygnu.de/index.php/2009/02/vuzix-vr920-with-linux-and-active-3d-stereo/ ), so, I'll try this way.
Yesterday I've made the following experiment. I connect Vuzix' VGA-connector to linux PC (ASUS Eee 901), and USB - to Windows PC (ASUS Eee 701) with installed Vuzix drivers. The image quality is MUCH MUCH better than when I connect USB to linux PC. And OSD Menu is working fine. Anaglyph stereo movies from youtube are seen good, in stereo. But side-by-side doesn't working correctly enough. |

| First of all, you need to find the 3D movie, i.e.:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89cGA4-yPRw
Run it, switch into fullscreen and select appropriate 3D mode on glasses
You don't need extra class video card - I watch 3D on youtube with Asus Eee 701 |

No, you call on-screen menu in vuzix eyewear and choose appropriate 3D mode in this menu - i.e. anaglyph 3D for anaglyph movie. |

For YouTube3D, no, but you may be able to download the video and then play with the Stereoscopic Player.

| Still didn't have any success playing anything with Stereoscopic Player either
Hangs up or aspect ratio difficulties (very tight screen or something) |
