hi all i got the following message back from Brian J. Degus at Vuzix re the updates for Windows 7 as you don't get the full use of the VR920 in win 7.

my message first:

i am curious if there will be an updated driver for windows 7, as i really like the vr920 and have not seen anything with the same type of functions and versitility it has for 3d and proper head tracking, yes i could buy the nvidia 3d setup but i want to be able to use both of these functions without having multiple monitors, which for a 3d setup would cost more than i make a year

and the reply:

We will soon be releasing software version 3.0 for the VR920 that will have support for Windows 7.

i hope that by soon he means by the end of the year, and that we will have fewer problems 3D in win 7, but read into the message from Brian as much as you want to, i'm just glad they are at least letting us know they are working on it.

Hey ! Guys !!!

Something wonderfull, i'd discover : vr920 seems running quite fine on win7 starter on a eeepc 1005HA from asus. I've just installed drivers in compatibility mod (xp sp3, and seems to work also in vista), and made running the vr920 monitor and calibrator in the same way !!!

Ciao a tutti, i return now on fs9 !!!

Hi. Good to hear that. I too have been groping with my VR920 and Acer D250, and got practically nothing to work on it except Airxonix and stuff that came piggyback with the gogs. Have you by anychance been able to play anything succesfully???

Haven't heard a thing from Vuzix in a while. Hope they don't drop the community like Emagin. It was horrible. They doubled the price of the Z800 and locked out the forums. PPL where pissed! With the whole glove pie fiasco, I'm starting to feel ditched. Please Vuzix, prove me wrong. The tech world promised us all VR in the early 90s and so far that dream has been a long road of disappointment. Please respond and help us love VR all over again.

I can assure you that the community has not been forgotten.

I would stay tuned to the website for any information regarding the new VR920 software.

I'm returning to this half-year thread, again.
Come on Vuzix, tell us, your customers, what with VR920 software upgrade?
Will you make it, or you just throw VR920 as old product away, focusing on iPod-ish video-playback HMD's in wrap series?

We want to know your plans on VR920!
Will we see updated design of VR1440 or something, with better resolution and optics?
Or you will again repack old screens in new case?

Would be gladly know the truth.

To Vuzix stuff, if you read this - please check number of views for this thread and you will understand importance of the update!

I sure hope they put out a Win7 compatible 3.0 patch with fixes and game support soon.

At least go out with a final recent update if you're going to drop support. It really feels like a let down with this lack of information, like $300 was pissed into the wind. I hope I'm wrong because I enjoy using the product and would like to see it left in a good state.

I bet they'll soon close the forums and increase the price of the VR920 to $1200.

well, while headplay is dead (they told me via email lol) i doubt vuzix will die any time soon, their military contracted and still producing new products. I'm sure they just want to "get it right" this time round and i remember reading they weren't particularly happy with the quality of the vr920's
