Hey Vuzix members!!! It's been awhile since I've posted anything good.  I've been working on putting the VR920 into another helmet. If you remeber the first one I did I used the old Power Ranger helmet for the kids. Well I knew not having headphones would be the pain and trying to add them was just a waste. So what I did was I bought one of the Trimersions and used that shell for this Mod. They too took the old shells and molded they're own style with added headphones support. The velcro strap in the back is better and the shell itself is smaller and lighter.   Now adding the vuzix into this shell did take some time but it fit nice

I also took the time to paint it and paint the gun as well. Bob over at 3001AD did a nice job on the gun, to bad the glasses were wireless and had a small FOV. Then I wouldn't have changed them, anyways there is they gyro tracker in the shell which will allow you to look like a mouse if you wanted the vuzix disabled, the gun connected to the helmet still connects wireless to the receiver and is picked up like a keyboard to the PC. Very cool setup....

I just finished building a Pod for my entertainment out of PVC pipe. Im going to take some pic's tomorrow and post some shots...

Oh yeah, I changed the headphones that came with the trimersion with some Sennheiser. I got lucky picking the PCX150, alittle dremmel work and they fit like they were meant to be..

Sorry fellas I've been busy, so here are some pic's..  With the lighting effect, it made the helmet and gun look alittle maroon but it suppose to be green/silver. But changing the view in the light it also shows some purple.. This is a good side shot. here I got to use the rubber from the old power ranger shell, no light what so ever. I used soft sticky foam to cover up the hack job, not perfectly cut but again it's for me and for people to try out. This is what I meant about getting differant colors, it doesn't look like that from my eye's.remember this gun!! Now thats the green, very cool design..  That's it, another Vuzix fit but this one was tight, they made the shell smaller and lighter as I mentioned before so it doesn't sit on your nose like the older one did. If anyone is serious and still uses their vuzix, I would recommend putting it into this shell for immersive feeling and also there is a switch for the trackings ON and OFF on the helmet. Only 2DOF but it works..

Thanks, interesting
I'm very comfortable with my "default" compact VR920 shell, but, this is good Idea maybe to make this kind of mod in future.

Just figured to show a few pic's of the pod im working on with the Vuzix vr920 and a trimersion shell. It's just a quick pic that was taken in my garage with a bud being the guinea pig. More photo's upcoming soon.

The whole setup consist of the VR920 glasses, a Trimersion HMD gutted, painted a 2 tone color, Sennheiser PXC  150 headphones, the only ones that I found that could fit with alittle modify. A 3rd space force feedback vest. Ofcourse using the Trimersion's Gun and tracking device. Using the IZ3d drivers for 3d support for more titles then what vuzix has to offer.

We are running Vista system 32bit with 4gig ram, 8600gt 1gb video and an AMD 6000+ cpu.

Any questions, feel free to bomb away!!  If your just looking  "COOL"

Ok Vuzix Fans!!! I made another Pod and put together another Helmet set. This one really looks purple and Gold when the light hits it. Purple in these photos only as you can see. The PVC pod is pretty sturdy as I added some ply wood for the bottom and made it easy to take apart for on the move.

Well thats about it, pretty much all done for now. Gonna get some friends over and start deathmatching the way it was meant to be done.

Take care all  and good luck, keep on VuzixIN......
