| | Hello! I'm hoping someone can help me out... I recently purchased a Vuzix VR920 headset and I've installed the software and the headset as instructed in the manual. I am having some display issues with the monitor that I'm having a hard time figuring out. I am running the following machine: - Intel Quad-core 2.48 Ghz processor
- Windows Vista Home Premium Edition
- Dual nVidia GeForce 8800 GTX Video Cards (dual DMI connector ports, no VGA)
- Hannspree 28" Widescreen monitor
- Vuzix VR920 Headset
- Latest nVidia drivers downloaded
- FSX with Acceleration Pack installed
The behavior is different depending upon which "monitor" I have set as the "primary" in the nVidia Control Panel. Hannspree monitor set as primary: With the Hannspree set up as the primary, the view from the VR920 is just the Windows wallpaper background. The FSX setup screen appears normally on the Hannspree when launched, but in the VR920 you still see nothing but the Windows wallpaper screen. When you start the flight, the simulation appears normally on the Hannspree, but the screen in the VR920 goes black. Head tracking functions as it should, I just cannot see the simulation in the headset. Headtracking in this mode is pretty smooth with just a slight jerkiness now and then. VR920 set as primary: With the VR920 set as the primary display device, I can see the Windows Desktop in the headset and I can launch applications using the headset view. The Hannspree monitor screen shows nothing but the Windows wallpaper screen as the VR920 did in the last set up. Upon launching FSX, however, the FSX setup screen appears on the Hannspree monitor and NOT in the VR920. The VR920 still shows only the Windows Desktop. When you launch the simulation, again, the simulation dispays on the Hannspree monitor, but the screen in the VR920 is black. This time though, the head tracking appears to be much more jerky on the screen and the picture on the monitor even blacks out about once every couple of seconds. Cloning the monitors together: In this mode, I can see the Windows Desktop on both screens and can launch applications from either. After launching FSX, the flight setup screen appears as I would expect in both screens. Upon launching a flight, however, both screens go black, the "load progress" bar that normally appears in the center of the screen is now in the lower right hand corner of the screen. Then when the simulation starts, you can hear it from the speakers, but both screens are black. Again I have configured the settings per the manual provided with the headset. Screen resolution is set at 1024 X 768. If there is anyone out there who has taken the time to read all of this (thank you!) and if you can provide any other recommendations that would help I would appreciate it! I need to get flying again! lol Another note: I tried to launch Crysis under the cloned set up and the game froze and then crashed... :-( Thank you, HarleyPilot |

| | Try to set up FSX not in 32 bit color, but 16 or 24 (I don't quite remember), and yes - use clone mode, with VR920 as primary - all should be ok. |

| | I changed the video card to 16-bit color, but that still hasn't worked. Still experiencing the same behavior as described. |

| You don't need to change video card settings in windows - try to set 16 bit in FSX detailed settings.
I had the same behavior as you described, changing this setting in FSX - solved the problem. |

| | Thank you! Setting the in-game graphic setting to 16-bit color did the trick! I can now see the simulation on both monitors. But now the head tracking feature stopped working... What gives? Any suggestions? Thanks again! :-) |

| Ok, great! Now check that you have FSX in enabled titles of your iWear monitor - software which installed with VR920 drivers
You must enable it in order head-tracking and stereo to work. |

| | Yeah, I checked that and FSX is listed in the Enabled Programs in the iWear monitor. I even removed it and re-added it and the tracking still won't work. Prior to making the 16-bit change in FSX head tracking worked fine. After I made the 16-bit change in FSX, head tracking stopped working. |

| | No worries... I have head tracking working now actually! The view is great, however, the forward view is slightly off center and it's just a bit jerky. I have re-calibrated the headset, but it's still just a tad off center when looking forward. If there is anything you can suggest to smooth out the jerkiness, please let me know... Thank you for all of your suggestions! |
