While I have tried quite a few games, my efforts have been mainly focused on IL2 Sturmovik: 1946. The head tracking works great, and the picture quality is adequate. However, I have thus far been unsuccessful in achieving stereoscopic 3D. I'll list a rundown of the steps that I have taken and all the info that I can supply about my problem.

Vuzix software and firmware is fully updated.

IL2 was instantly detected and enabled by the iwear monitor. I manually copied the "d3d8.dll" and "VR920Dx8Stereo.cfg" files into "C://Program Files(x86)/Steam/Steamapps/common/il 2 sturmovik 1946" as per the instructions. It goes without saying that I am running the program through Steam.

IL2 starts and runs as normally, and once in-game I press Ctrl+F7 and head tracking becomes active. Then, when I press Ctrl+F8 to enable stereo 3D, nothing happens. The game continues to run with no change at all.

At this point I have run out of ideas as to what to try, and I would greatly appreciate any help whatsoever.

Here's my computer specs:
Windows Vista 64-bit
Nvidia Geforce 8800GT
Intel Core2Duo 2.18Ghz
4GB DDR2 RAM

It should be noted that the vuzix 3D visualizer program DOES work. That is the only program that I have been able to achieve stereo 3D in.

Scratch that, I got it working perfectly. The problem was that it was running in opengl mode, so as soon as I switched to directx everything was fine.

Did it make a massive difference? Did you go 'omfg that's awesome' or was it subtle?

Mines still on the way - I'd love to know if it's a big change to the overall effect

It does make a huge difference. It feels as though you are looking through a window, rather than at a screen; if that makes any sense.

How can I determine and or change which mode (opengl or directx) it's running in?

to switch from openGL to directx open the game, esc through the intro video, goto settings, display and change it in the drop down box at the top.. I had a problem with the sterio driver intitially; However, I downloaded the directx 9c end user redistributable from the microsoft site and this fixed things nicely :-) http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&displaylang=en . This worked for my Vista 32bit and XP laptop.
