| | The nvidia stereo driver won't work. But you can use Vuzix's stereo driver. Vuzix's stereo driver doesn't support as many games, but it still works reasonably well. You will only be able to get stereoscopy working in Direct3D 8 and Direct3D 9 games for now. You will need to upgrade your firmware, and download the latest drivers. You can find them and instructions at http://www.vuzix.com/support/downloads_drivers.html Have a look through these forums and you will find someone posted some instructions for getting Vuzix stereoscopy to work in other games that are not actually in the official list. For example people got it working in Live For Speed. You just need to copy the D3D8.dll or d3d9.dll and the configuration file from your Vuzix directory into the directory of your game. Vuzix supports tracking in lots of games in the new driver version, but to get tracking working in unsuported games, you should download GlovePIE and use it to emulate a TrackIR. There are lots of your kind of games that support TrackIR, you can get the list from TrackIR's website, along with instructions on how to get the game to work. Sorry I can't be much help right now, I've got to get some sleep. |

| | Thanks guys. Maybe you could help clear a little confusion. It seems that I read that only nvidia cards support the stereoscopic 3d, but not the 8xxx series. I assume that the 8xxx series is more advanced than 7xxx series, and are 7xxx series even available anymore? Now they sell 9xxx cards. I'm not stuck on the 8500gt, when I build my new system I had intended to upgrade to 8800gt or something along that line. So what would be the best nvidia card available that would support 3d? |

| Nvidia is making some progress with the new stereo drivers for the 8800 series of cards. A far as I know, they aren't officially working, but people have got them to work with some beta drivers and a little hacking. If you are buying a new card you probably want to get either the 8800GT or the 8800GTS (only the 512MB version) both these cards actually run off the same chipset (G92) as the 9800 series. So in essence, you can get say a 8800GTS and overclock it to be on par with the 9800 GTX but for about $150 less.
For now, you should be happy with the growing list of natively supported games. The nvidia drivers should be available soon if they are not already.
