| | Hi. I was reading scrolling through the forum when I came across this thread. I’m guessing by your avatar that you are South African? I got my VR920 in the USA last week and the tracking worked fine there. However when I got back on Monday, I had to set it up on my PC and had this exact problem. If you would turn it a few degrees the indicator on the tracking would suddenly jump a 180 degrees. After calibrating it numerous times, on a flat table and what else, I did get it eventually. Works fine in FS X now. So it must be our country. Look like our power is not the only thing that doesn’t work properly.. J |

| | Earth's magnetic field strength:
I live in the bright pink bit at the bottom of Australia, with a magnetic field strength of 70,000 nano-teslas. You live in the dark blue bit at the bottom of Africa, with a magnetic field strength of 10,000 nano-teslas. So I have 7 times the signal strength that you have! Also I have read lots of things about magnetic anomalies in South Africa. |

| hey carl.
didnt know u were an ausy
u in tasy or bottom of the mainland
im from sydney so magnetic field not as strong for me but tracking still works fine with a + - 0.1 shake in yaw (which seems to be normal for everyone else) |

| | A plausible explination then. Well if so, then I am wondering just how Tod and the Technical support guys are planning to fix this one? Life is full of little challenges, eh? Seriously though, I understand they are working hard on fixing the firmware upgrade. I am looking forward to it since I use a ATI 1900XT and the stereoscopy still eludes me. So maybe if they could just give us a rough estimate of when they expect to be done, it would be much appreciated. |

| From that map I assume that there is not much in the way of iron/metal deposits in africa to give a magnetic anomoly (as in MAD detectors) effect. As I'm in Cape Town, well the darkest blue area = weakest field strength.
Interesting to see how the other continents all have strong magetic fields..
"I'm magnetically disadvantaged and require world compensation..."
"Here boy!!.. Have a magnet"
