Edit: I exagerated. Some people who tried to update the firmware failed, and their VR920 is now a brick. It isn't recognised, the display is always off, including the menu, there is no sound, and no tracking. Anyway Vuzix is replacing the bricked ones ASAP, so don't panic if that happened to you, and the firmware is no longer on the download site until they can fix it.

When I tried to update my firmware, I don't remember exactly what happened. I think it never came up with the new hardware dialog. I don't know if that is because it just installed it automatically without asking, or if it never installed it.

But  now when I run the install program it goes like this:

Please click Update to proceed.

Update in progress... Do not unplug your VR920 or turn off the computer until directed.

Please disconnect your VR920 (changes to "Update in progress..." when you do).

Please reconnect your VR920.

Please disconnect your VR920.

Please reconnect your VR920. (this is repeated forever every time you press OK).

The first time I ran the update program it told me that I had firmware 1.102.101.01, which I believe translates to video firmware v1, usb firmware v1.02, tracker firmware v1.01. It also gave me a message about needing to wait for a new hardware wizard, which didn't make much sense. These messages no longer appear.

I just tried running it again, and plugging it into a different USB port the last time, which made windows give me a balloon hint that it was installing the firmware update driver, and that it installed it successfully. But it still won't detect my VR920.

Anyway, they are sending me a replacement and I have to send them my VR920.
