EDIT:

Here is a suggestion... make a firmware update that doesn't destroy some people's VR920s. That way people will be able to enjoy all the wonderful new features that Vuzix are generously providing to ungrateful people like me.

Now some people have expensive bricks (although Vuzix is obviously sending out replacements as fast as they can), and I have a free brick. Some people have been able to unbrick their VR920s on their own, and some people have a wonderful new version of their VR920 which they are enjoying and have no complaints about.

Carl, first off, long time viewer first time poster.

I read your post and it kinda irks me.  Vuzix is doing the best they can to ensure us a solid product in my mind.  53 per cent of peoples VR worked the first time they installed the update (add one more here as I had no problem).  This is of course according to the poll on this site.

Secondly, I notice you refer to your newfound brick as 'expensive.'  If I recall a while back you posted something to the effect of getting your 920 for free for doing some work with Vuzix.  What's the deal,

The Kill S

Why? Then I would have had to wait months before I could play with a VR920.

Unless people wanted it for watching movies, the old VR920 version was still great. And Vuzix had no way of knowing that nvidia would suddenly decide to stop releasing their stereo driver.

I expect Vuzix will sell future units with the new firmware.

Carl is right . . . the newest firmware will be rolled into production, so that after a certain point, all units purchased will have it.
