I'm having a go at modifying DOSBox to emulate a VFX1 with a VR920 for DOS games. So far I've got it to detect an imaginary VFX1 in Super Karts, and it tries to read from its head tracker every frame. But I haven't implemented the actual reading yet. I also haven't implemented any of the graphics side of it (for games that support stereo).

Unfortunately, I can't find the VFX1 SDK anywhere, or the drivers. If anyone has any software or documentation for the VFX1, can they let me know?

Virtual Reality was a big thing back in the days of DOS, so there are many games (relatively) that support VR headsets, and even native stereo.

Also it will be interesting to play some non-Direct3D, non-OpenGL games on it.

If anyone has any information on the other DOS VR helmets, can they let me know about them too?

Has anyone got the VFX1 Programmers Reference Manual? Surely someone at Vuzix has it.

Hi there, have just joined after ordering my VR920 last night!

I happen to have a boxed VFX1 with the user manual on PDF and pretty much most of the software you can get for it. If you let me know what you need I can dust off my old Win98 PII PC that I built specialy for the VFX and find the stuff you want.

Not used my VFX1 for a year or so and its a fiddly thing to get working but I'm hoping the VR920 will be just as much fun without the hassel!

Cheers

Des

I already have a pdf of the manual. What I need is the programmers' manual, which is a seperate thing. I don't know if anyone has it.

Any VFX1 game patches or games are also useful.

Yes please. But you will need to archive them as a RAR file because my email doesn't like zip files.

Sorry to bump this old topic.

I actually have a CyberMaxx (2) HMD from VictorMaxx, and even some sources on their "tracking" system.

I even built a "mouse emulation" based on it.

If you're interested...

I've uploaded the sources to http://files.arianchen.de/cyb95dll.zip

However I just realized you would rather need the replies from the hardware than just the API.

I'll get some data dumps done if you need.
