Therefore I can record the video at any time too.

This should work no problem. But I wish to control one or two servo's in the plane which will pan and tilt the camera when I pan and tilt my head. As well I want to use a joystick to control the rest of the plane.

So there is a program c/w hardware which will control my transmitter from the computer... no worries there. But I need to control THAT program with the USB ouput of the VR920.... Will GlovePIE help me here?

I am not a computer wizz but I am not a moron either.... just hoping I could get some help from you Genius's

Course if anyone else is doing something similar I would love to hear about it! Of if you just want to chime in that's great too.

Wearable computer

Hi everybody! I am a new user at this board.
With this thread i would like to discuss using the vr920 for wearable computing.

I have myself constructed a simple wearable computer and I am currently using it with the icuiti vr920 because of the vr920's low price, relatively high res and good availability.

Wearing the computer

System specs:
VIA nano-itx board (1ghz, vga, lan, audio integrated) power consumption approx. 10w
1GB RAM
4GB CF Card for now
9.6v 2220mAh batterypack
Gyration wireless mouse
mini usb keyboard
OS: Ubuntu Linux
Plastic case made in about 1h :D

The computer with hmd, batterypack, keyboard & mouse

Future plans include:
a compact / better looking case.
larger memory card
Internet connectivity

The computer works fine with only some minor video driver issues in ubuntu.

One major issue with the vr920 and wearables is its lack of transparency :-/
I'm thinking of maybe trying to modify it using some prisms or beam splitter mirrors to make it see-through.
Suggestions??

Can I use an iWear VR920 with glasses?

Hi!

I've got quite interested in this product, but since I'm using glasses, I wondered if it would be possible to use them and the VR920 at the same time?

Thanks for answers!

Miromurr

Two or more VR920 at the same time?

Hello,
i am using VR920 to view my virtual scenes created in Quest3D on Windows XP and nVidia stereoscopic drivers. Let's say you have a full screen window open, you open another window and drag it to the right where you don't see it in your screen. Here Carl's GlovePie get into action, you use desktop headtrackingdesktop script, and move the second window to the first windows' right. Open another window, and look at your right while, of course having VR920, dragging the window to the first window's left. You can open windows and drag them next to, on top of, on bottom of etc. each other, and have a sphere of windows around you.

Another trick, you can create virtual desktops and have multiple spheres.

Here I need a favor from you, guys.

First, is it possible to make a window larger than the resolution of the screen? What I mean actually, when the screen resolution is 800x600 and you want to have the window 1024*800. By this means, with VR920, you want be able to see the window at once, you'll have to move your head around.

Second, I am not a computer wiz, and I know there is a way to put the windows around the window on the screen. I mean, you have a full screen window, if you open more windows, the program will replace them clockwise around the screen. If somebody would program this and send me, I will be grateful.

Double vertical FOV with 2 VR920s

Has anyone tried wearing two VR920s at the same time, one on top of the other?

Do you think it would be possible to get double the vertical field of view that way?

Spy Drone

I´ve just purchased a four channel R/C little helicopter with wireless camera+microphone; next i will get an Efika PowerPC. the size of a travel book, with integrated sound and graphics etc, hack a battery for it; maybe solar power, and feed the sound and video of the mini copter to the wearable thingy. :)
Like it?

augmented reality.

after i found out about this awesome tech a few nights ago i am now very interested by it and i am going to try to learn programing to write a script for artoolkit. atm i have only played with demos and samples but its very cool even it u just see a cube. it would be realy cool if we could get the stereo 3d to work with this , and it would be cool to see more ppl experimenting with it.

this video is a great example of wat can be done http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2i-W9ncV_0

imagine a sword fighting game or sumthing like this :D

University Project Research

Hello there, i'm currently researching for my final year project and am thinking of using this headset.
Two questions:

Can it handle 360 degrees in all the axises?

The sensors read the delta changes from the headset correct?

Thanks for any answers.
FPV

Hi guys
I bought the VR920 and want to connect it to the video camera receiver.

I know that there 2 options dict to the VR920 via composite to vga converter, and via laptop with video capture.

Can anybody clarify and give me more details??

Have a nice weekend

Moti

Vr920 and Winamp Visualization plugins?

Has anyone tried to use a vr920 with the Winamp Visualization plugins?
I know 3d support was written in to the Milkdrop plugin in version 1.04D.
But it's based on using red and Blue glasses.
Thanks,
Mike

USB connection

I connect the VR920 to my laptop to the VGA output and the video input via USB video capture. Need factual suggestions pls.

Hey everyone in VR920 question land.

I am a every day user of the computer for work purposes as well as gaming.

As for my work I am sitting on a top of the line system and looking at two HD 26" displays in order to facilitate my needs in drawing blueprints. I use programs that cost in the 50,000 to 300,000 US dollar ranges to do my work. programs such as AutoCad, CadPipe, IntelliCad etc...

I currently utilize my Video card to a much higher resolution then the VR920 has to offer due to the fact that I need to see alot more of the drawing because I draw Duct work and in some cases in 3D using the programs. My head is about 17 inches away from the LCD screen when I work. I also have to zoom in a heck of a lot at times to see every single little line. at the same time these programs have to be used in a way that I need to, very often to punch in digits and type letters depending on the situation and it requires me to look at the bottom left corner to a little box were I do the typing for the calculations. I use Windows XP Pro.

The questionsare:

What Benefit besides cleaning up my desktop will I gain from the VR920???

Will I see more?

Is it better for me to use this product then what I have now?

What will I gain?

What will I loose?

Over all why should or should I not buy this product???

Vuzix if you can please answer this honestly keeping in mind that this is my bread and butter.

All others on the forum are welcome to respond.

Please I need your thoughts...

Pr0x

3d pictures?

any one know some links to some 3d pictures or movies?

Wiimote with vr920

hey.
i have been looking around the forums the past few days and have come aacross allot of posts about combining the wiimote with vr920 for a realy imersive experience. but allot of them mention the restrictions when using the sensor bar like not being able to look around 360 or up and down 90 degrees.

well if i am right then i might have fixed this problem.

what i suggest is getting 20 - 30 high intensity IR led's and placing them evenly around the room u are in or if u want to go all the way in a sphere that u can make and space them so that at any one time 2 of them are in view of the wiimote.
then as u move left the first led would move out of view but just before it does another led come into view therefor the wiimote always has something to track in every direction however if the wiimote only outputs like -1 to 1 on x and y axis (like a joystick) then it is still possible u could just write a program that works like a delta gate (a control chip that outputs a change over time) and sets its frequency to like 50 herts.

if anyone understands what i am saying and has the the coding strength (wether it be just glove pie or u right a completely standalone script in c++ or something) and a wiimote and the money to buy all the leds and wiring to wire it up then please try it. i would but i dont have a wii or a wiimote atm. i am currently saving up to get one so when i evenualy do get it i will give this a try but untill then can someone else try it.

oh and im new to the forums so high everyone :) .
French Magazine

I work for a French big Computer Magazine that help newbies, test hardwares softwares etc... we release this month a subject about how to install and use VR920, now it need a native stereo wrapper if you want to sell more VR920 :D
I hope it will make a lot of new customers in France !! ;)

3D Content-creation Applications use with VR920 ???

Hello,
First time on this site forum.

I am not a gamer. I want to model in 3D stereo and see it AS I MODEL. So far, I have been looking into the following:

1) IZ3D stereo LCD monitor (19" or 22"). This monitor will display graphics that are rendered using the Direct3D (X) API. Very few 3D content creation programs use DirectX for their working viewports. They are almost all OpenGL-based programs, but some of these use DirectX to display what you are working on in the viewport. The ones I have found that do this are, but not limited to: 3DSMax, trueSpace, Maya, XSI, 3D-Brush, Metasequoia LE, Moment of Inspiration, 3DCanvas (maybe). Targeted at gamers, the monitor uses polarized glasses and is around $1000.

2) Zalman ZM-M190 stereo LCD monitor (19", I think). I have not yet found out what type of content it will display, but since it also is targeted at gamers primarily, I would assume it displays DirectX driven graphics in stereo, at least. It uses polarized glasses and is said to sell for around $500. I have not been able to get an answer about particulars regarding my purposes from the company.

3) Anaglyph option for real-time modeling in a 3D content-creation program. I have, surprisingly, discovered only one that has this option. It is called Archipelis and can make very quick 3D objects by simply sketching a closed line, either freehand or by tracing a photograph then applying the photo texture. Please note that this option is for actually seeing in stereo 3D AS YOU MODEL, rather than any kind of static output using a preview window or by post-processing using an anaglyph plugin, anaglyph creation program or 2D program such as Photoshop for red/green pair production. So, this is the only program I have found that fits my bill.

4) Goggles that use miniature screens. Among these products, one is VR920.

Sooooo... I would like to know what is required for use of the VR290 with 3D content-creation programs. Specifically, which software could be used with the VR290 so that I can model while seeing stereo. Most of these programs have any-position mulitple camera views capability. I assume I need a dual output STL card... such as what, for example? And what do I need to look for in a program to know if it would be suitable for stereo viewing of modeling in real-time using VR290? I am particularly interested in the feasiblility of the following programs: ZBrush, Modo 301, Mudbox, Blender, trueSpace, Carrara Pro.

Thanks very much.

P.S. There may be a lot of 3D creation people out there who could jump at this, if it is feasible with some of the more mainstream content-creation applications.
