It may be the type of glasses I wear, or the shape of my nose/face, but either way its an issue. I have had some limited success by removing the nose-piece and re-inserting it upside-down, but its still not perfect. I find that I often have to push the headset closer to my face to keep everything in focus. One time I tried just folding a piece of paper-towel and wedging it under the nose-piece. When I did that it helped a lot to keep the lcd screens directly at my eye-level without any screen distortions. However it made everything too cumbersome to be practical in any sense of the word.

I am hoping there will be different sized/shaped nose-pieces in the future that could accommodate this. I really just need the piece to be about 1/4-1/2" taller so it could rest comfortably on the bridge of my nose. Maybe there is some way to design a vertically adjustable nose-piece to accommodate different users. I can't imagine it could cost too much to get a small run of different sized nose-pieces. Another possible solution is a velcro sports-band that could replace the arms such that the weight of the unit could be distributed across the forehead. I still think the product is great, IMO, but its little annoyances like this that keep it from being perfect. Just my 2 cents.

Input buttons on the visor

I'd like to see buttons on the glasses that could be used as extra inputs to a game.

For example, if a game has binoculars in it, I should be able to press a button on the VR920 to activate binoculars. If a game has a head-mounted flashlight, I should be able to press a button on the VR920 to turn the flashlight on or off. If a game has different visors you can wear, I should be able to press a button on my VR920 to swap visors. If a game has night vision goggles, or scopes with zoom, or anything else where the character might have buttons on their head, I would like to have buttons on my head.

It would also be useful if you could (optionally) assign a button on the visor to recentering the view, or turning stereo on or off etc. But I'd like that to optional so you can use the keys as game inputs if you prefer.

Vuzix VR software suggestions

Hi Vuzix VR920 fans,

What do you want to see in future VR software from Vuzix?

Our VR engineering team has been working hard on enabling Vuzix support in games and other applications, assisting 3rd party developers in adding native support for Vuzix VR hardware, and even creating applications like the Vuzix JPS Viewer for your enjoyment.

What else would you like to see in the way of Vuzix VR related software?
Would you like to see changes in the iWearMonitor or iWear Calibrator software? The computer then "augments" this image by adding some information (overlays) to the image, and displays this image in front of the eye.

You can do this with one eye, or, for normal people, with 2 eyes.

The setup looks like a VR920 on which you add one central camera, or one camera per eye (you can play with the separation to add depth of field, you can play with what the camera actually sees: visible light, infrared, ultraviolet, x ray, whatever ;-), you can add some lighting too)...:w00t:

Now from the vuzix perspective, it is very possible to create a separate product that would integrate all of this, or they can see this as separate addons that VR920 customers would buy to accomodate for their specific AR needs.

Calibration

It's a real bitch to calibrate the vr920 correctly.. especially the jaw... Would it be possible to be able to calibrate a specific axis?

And maybe a bit different calibration methods like stepwise with images in which you need to look: and press a button everytime a position is held.. this should also give a good calibration (propably even better as with the current method)

step 1: set zero point

step 2: look left

step 3: look right

step 4: look up

step 5: look down

step 6: roll left

step 7: roll right

And between every step, set zeropoint..

a cool calibrationtool would be ofcourse to have it all in 3d(view) with spoken commands and let you look in specified directions..

hmm.. maybe I'll just try to see if I can do anything with the SDK..

provide a svideo/pal to vga box

The VR920 is already an impressive product, why not allow it to watch TV, video, ipod, whatever?:w00t:

A small addon converter could do the trick, no?

add a way to adjust the position of the screens

I'm sure not everyone has the same distance between eyes... ;-)

Personaly, I'm using only one eye, but even so, I ve had a hard time positionning my eye at the right place in front of the screen. The PSP, on the other hand, will *only* launch games in TV-out mode if a device is connected to the Component cables. If only connected through Composite, an error message will spawn saying it needs to be connected via Component or D-Terminal cables for games to work.
To achieve TV output on the Slim model, Composite, S-Video, Component and D-Terminal cables are sold separately by Sony. Games are output as a progressive scan signal, which can only be carried by the component video and D-Terminal cables, and can only be displayed on a television which supports progressive scan.
source

In essence, the glasses "work" with PSP-2000 devices if connected with Composite cables, but only for playing music, displaying video and showing pictures. To play games, you will need to convert the Component signal to one that your models can interpret.

This boils down to needing a Component-to-VGA adapter for the VR920, or a Component-to-VGA *and* a VGA-to-Composite adapter for the AV230 and AV920 units. After having done some extensive research, there doesn't seem to be any Component-to-Composite adapters, so I could with some confidence say that both are needed.

While cheaper cables for the PSP-2000 are sold, with only Composite connections, they do not support games.

I believe that your list should mention that the PSP support is only partial, and that to get full support in games signal converters are needed.

While you likely don't want to link to external products, an example of a Component-to-VGA converter (which as mentioned would be required for the VR920 device) can be found here:
http://www.xcm.cc/xcm_1080p_vga_box.htm

And lastly, two models of VGA-to-Composite converters (for AV230 and AV920 devices after having converted the signal to VGA with the above unit) can be found here:
http://www.grandtec.com/video.html

highdef

could add dvi support to improve the quality?

stereoscopic support for all games

stereoscopic support for all 3d software would be nice

16x9 instead of 4x3

Howdy folks
Got my AV920's and they work great, but for a suggestion, it sure would be nice if they were in 16x9 widescreen format instead of 4x3.
