Especially since I can still see what is under those pixels with the other eye. My VR920 still works great.

RE: left screen not working

We've tested these displays for burn in, and have been able to get no permanent image retention.

With three dead pixels, your unit now officially qualifies for repairs, simply on that basis alone. If you would like, I can set up a return for you. Simply send me an email. We will see if we can figure out what the cause of the black 'bites' out of the display is. You are the third person to mention this, so while it is not a common problem, it is also not unique.

RE: left screen not working

I've had negative side effects. I don't know for certain what the cause is, but I reckon it is overheating.

The symptom is big solid black circles appearing on the right hand sides of both screens. Well semicircles. I think the one on the right hand screen grew fastest. Which means it has an apparent 3D depth if you look at it.

These circles definately look like your VR920 is permanently destroyed. But I unplugged it and the problem started to disappear, so I left it unplugged for about 16 hours and then tried it again the next day, and it had fixed itself, except that there was one new stuck-pixel on the left screen which was black. I'm reasonably confident that that stuck pixel wasn't there before. Because I counted the stuck pixels shortly after I got it, and there was only a blue one and a white one. Now there are three stuck pixels.

The problem came back again another day, although I caught it earlier that time, so the circles were smaller. This time I quickly unplugged it and put it in the fridge for a while. I have no idea whether it is smart to put it in the fridge, I'm guessing it isn't. Anyway, I didn't get any new stuck pixels this time and the black circles went away again after leaving it unplugged for a couple of hours.

I think it was caused by leaving it on my bed.

Wearing the visor for 8-hours straight doesn't cause any problems. (at least not to the visor, my eyes feel a bit weird afterwards). But leaving the visor lying on my bed for a few hours with the brightness up seems to cause the nasty black circles, and I'm worried it will not repair itself if I let it go like that too long.

My other concern is burn-in. Is burn-in temporary or permanent with these glasses? I can't use a screen-saver because my computer is being used, it is just that monitor that isn't being used.

RE: left screen not working

Carl, we've kept a pair of VR920s plugged in and running for about a month and a half. There were no negative side effects, and as far as we are concerned, running them 24/7 would be considered acceptable use. Any damages that would occur because of that would be covered by warranty.

RE: left screen not working

This doesn't happen "at times", it happens always, every time I plug in the glasses or reboot. But it didn't happen when I first got them.

Mine always fixes itself before 15 minutes, but it still feels like 15 minutes. I am impatient :) so now when I stop using my glasses I keep them plugged in. Is that bad? Will the glasses be damaged if I leave them plugged in too long?

RE: left screen not working

This can happen on occasion, and indeed happens to my personal unit as well. There are times, especially at boot, but also if you hotswap the USB, where the displays will receive a signal they don't understand, even if only for a split second. However, the displays will recover, every single time. If any of you find that your display hasn't recovered in 15 minutes, please email me, and we'll take care of it.
RE: left screen not working

Same here..i started my computer this morning.. and wanne turn it back to my lcd sc
reen.. and bam.. left screen problem.. so i back under the table again.. to remove te cable.. //

RE: left screen not working

he you can also read my mind .. you are a real Guru... i have the same problemo ...

RE: left screen not working

More details on the problem:

Every time I have shut down and restarted the computer the problem has come back.

Here is what happens (only on left screen, right screen is perfect):

It has a bunch of horizontal lines across the screen and the image is smeared vertically along the entire height. There isn't much movement.

After a few minutes it starts to move, it becomes like a screen which has had its vsync knob turned to a ridiculous setting. This is actually a good sign, it means it is starting to fix itself.

After doing that for about a minute it changes to a split screen with the image repeated at the top and bottom of the screen. Then it changes to normal but with flashing horizontal lines across it. The noise slowly disappears from the top and right sides, until all that is left is a bit of noise at the bottom of the screen. This noise disappears entirely after a few minutes.

All in all, it takes about 7 or 8 minutes for the left screen to be working properly (vs. instantaneous for the right screen).

RE: left screen not working

I don't know what caused it, but it fixed itself, and it has been working since I posted that.

RE: left screen not working

Now i know why you are " Forum Guru " .. is it a bug.. ?

left screen not working

My left screen doesn't work. It has lost its vsync. It started off with horizontal lines that didn't move much. Then it went all un-vsynced like, then it fixed itself.

It just fixed itself while I was watching it.

This has happened once before. Only that time it didn't fix itself. I had to unplug it, wait half an hour and plug it back in again.

Unplugging it and plugging it back in again straight away doesn't fix it, it doesn't do anything. And the effect is still visible if you unplug the VGA cable (the grey background still has grey horizontal stripes moving on it).

The right screen always works perfectly.
