The head tracking works great, and the picture quality is adequate. However, I have thus far been unsuccessful in achieving stereoscopic 3D. I'll list a rundown of the steps that I have taken and all the info that I can supply about my problem.

Vuzix software and firmware is fully updated.

IL2 was instantly detected and enabled by the iwear monitor. I manually copied the "d3d8.dll" and "VR920Dx8Stereo.cfg" files into "C://Program Files(x86)/Steam/Steamapps/common/il 2 sturmovik 1946" as per the instructions. It goes without saying that I am running the program through Steam.

IL2 starts and runs as normally, and once in-game I press Ctrl+F7 and head tracking becomes active. Then, when I press Ctrl+F8 to enable stereo 3D, nothing happens. The game continues to run with no change at all.

At this point I have run out of ideas as to what to try, and I would greatly appreciate any help whatsoever.

Here's my computer specs:
Windows Vista 64-bit
Nvidia Geforce 8800GT
Intel Core2Duo 2.18Ghz
4GB DDR2 RAM

It should be noted that the vuzix 3D visualizer program DOES work. That is the only program that I have been able to achieve stereo 3D in.

3d missing or right display black

Seems all of a sudden most games the 3d effect is gone, the games play great, but in 2D mode.
I have to uninstall the Vuzix drivers and reinstall then it works but 'drops' out when I go to play the game later.

Also I usually use the Iz3D drivers (always worked great in the past) but in Bioshock the right screen is black in 3d mode and with no drivers it plays in 2D fine...(And no 3D effect in WoW or others using Vuzix drivers)

I also can not get Stereoscopic player to work correctly now, I choose software pageflipping and the files I use are Field Sequential movies (which I know worked in the past, have used them).

I have the latest firmware, already checked that version.

(I use the VR920 as the only display during these tests)

If you need more info let me know..

Intel I7 920 2.6gig quad core

Asus P6T Deluxe

Corsair 3 gig

2x 260GTX (216) SLi
Vista Home Premium SP1 (and current updates)

Audio sounds really bad

I recentlly bought vr920 and everything works ok except for the built in sound. Sorry if these questions have already been asked, but I couldn't find a FAQ of any sort:

#1: Audio crackling. I am hearing massive crackling in the audio at all times. Obviously it works fine through the laptop's own audio, but for some reason it is loud and unusable through the VR920's phones. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

#2: The display is only seen a clone of the primary display. When I plug in the glasses, Vista sees that I have an external display connected. However, when I have Vista identify the displays, both the monitor and the glasses are shown as "1" (rather than the glasses showing as "2"). This means that the only option I have is to clone the display and keep the laptop's display on at all time (and flickering horribly due to the stereoscopic signal). Is there a way to seperate the displays or perhaps disable the laptop's display?

My setup:
HP tx2500z
Vista Ultimate
2.4Ghz Turion X2
3GB ram
Radeon 3200HD

What firmware version?

How can I find out what firmware version is on my glasses and if I need an update?

My Vuzix will NOT PLAY Songs!

So I bought my Vuzix today, and I plugged it into my iPod and the VIDEO WORKS JUST FINE, but unfortunately when I try and play just songs, the audio doesn't come through.

It makes absolutely no sense. I mean it's not important if the VR920 dont display my desktop cause the resolution is too big, i wont use it and the resolution will switch on games.
It's not fun if i need to unplug the headset each time (or if i need to disable external monitor : it works too).

Thanks

PS : i have the same problem on a vista desktop computer. I use a spliting cable to plug my monitor and the VR920 on the same VGA connector (the only one on my graphic card) and so Vista lock the resolution to the VR920 maximum and my screen look bad. When I have just the USB cable plugged in and I move the headset around watching it on the LCD screen the tracking seems to be perfect but when I plug in the VGA cable for the glasses the same is not the case. Looking left seems to be fine but when I look right I'll either get very bad jitter when I turn 90 right or at times it won't move beyond 45 right and will then suddenly jump to a rear view when you turn more than 90 degrees. When your at 90 if you look down it swings to the front view. I've just noticed this is happening with all the games. Including the snake game you get with the update and just to reiterate when I unplug the vga cable and look at the tracking on screen its fine and calibration is perfect too. Does anyone know why the vga cable would interfere with the tracking? Has anyone come across this issue before or are my glasses broken. Really don't want to have to pay for the shipping all the way back to the US especially since it's not my fault the tracking isn't working. At first it only showed white box on a blue background, then after abut 2 minutes of being on and several unplug/replugs it showed the screen but at a very low refresh rate with lots of burn in, it proceeded to then flash horrible, look like a tv on a scrambled channel, and after another 2-3 minutes finally settled down. Is this something I should be concerned with? Has anyone else had the same problem?

I noticed the issue has come up here, but I didn't see a definite response as to whether this was an issue. http://forums.vuzix.com/Topic3157-10-1.aspx?Highlight=warm

Just bought vr920 and I have head tracking problems.

I know when someone asks for help it can be hard to help them sometimes because everything hasn't been explained properly so I will go into as much detail as I can.

Trying to get the head tracking working on a demo of unreal tournament 2004. The stereo 3d works just fine when I start the game but no tracking. I have a mac mini runing windows XP on boot camp. Is this game meant to work automaticly when you enable it or do you have to play around with scripts?

I have the latest verson of iwear 2.3. I have the game in the enabled list. Tracking status shows yaw, pitch and roll. My glasses track with the demos downloaded from the Vuzix site so I know its not the glasses. When I click on UT in enabled list it shows how to turn on tracking but for a total noob I don't understand what it is saying. Below are the instructions for head tracking please read through it as I point out which parts are confusing me.

Tracking:
1.The Process of tracking requires the <dinput8.dll> proxy driver to be installed. (((How do I know if this is installed. I did a search and it is in the UT files)))
Tracking is accomplished using a DirectInput emulation process. ((( Do I have to enable this or is it done automaticly? If so how do I enable it?)))

NOTE: The 'IWRView mutator' Must be enabled in the mutators list to enable VR920 Tracking. (((Where is the mutators list? How do I enable it?)))

2. The <UT2004.ini> and <User.ini> configuration files will require modifying for tracking support: (((How do you mod the config files?)))
“<UT2004 install directory>\System\UT2004.ini” (((What???)))
“<UT2004 install directory>\System\User.ini” (((Again What??? I opened both files but don't know what to do with them)))
The UT2004.log file access will be disabled during iWear Tracking sessions.

3. Run Unreal Tournament(UT2004.exe) as normal.
NOTE: Upon entering and reconfiguring your control interface in UT2004's configuration panel
the iWear tracking system may become disabled. To reenable the tracking system:
*** Exit UT2004, and ReRun UT2004 as normal. (((Tried this didn't work)))

4. Pressing <F7> provides for 4 modes of operation: (((Also tried this and nothing happened)))
0: Tracking is disabled.
1: users view and weapon aim is attached to the VR920 tracker With mouse pitching control
2: users view and weapon aim is attached to the VR920 tracker Mouse pitching control is disabled.
3: users view is independant of mouse weapon aim.
* Walk/Move in direction the weapon is aimed.
4: users view is independant of mouse weapon aim.
* Walk/Move in direction the user is looking. (((None of these worked)))

I hope I have showed you from my point of view where I'm lost and that you can help me. There is a thread in here about the same game and tracking issues but it didn't answer any of the above questions.

Mac Mini help?

Just got my glasses and can't get anything but blue screen with USB input (can't find clone option) and no head tracking with VGA (Which is why I bought it) the graphics on the mac mini are intel based. I have waited 18 years to be able to afford a VR head set and right now I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if the mac mini can not work with this head set. So I have two questions and would really appreciate if any one has the answer. 1st I have the latest mac mini so does anyone know if I can get "ANY" game to work with head tracking? If not I will buy a PC so the second question is what kind of PC should I buy config wise. eg... dual core procesor 2G ram and ???graphics card. Any help here would be really more than welcome.

UT2004 stopped working

I had UT2k4 up and running great yesterday, but now it's not doing the 3D thing, only the head tracking. Also, I can't change the head tracking mode with F7, or F7+CTRL. I would like to be able to look independent of my aim.

I noticed that there is a warning message "VR920's VGA port not found", but I have no problem using it in 3D with DOOM3, and using it as second monitor for my computer.

Also, I can't get Half-Life 2's 3D to kick in either. Actually, Steam is now crashing on bootup, so I can't even start HL2 right now. It was working an hour ago, but now it's messed up too. God, it's just one problem after another. My computer seems to be developing an immunity to these glasses, and it's rejecting them on every level.

D3D.dll crashing, (FSX).

Hi,
I've had My VR920's for about a year now, and for that period of time i've been having a problem with Flight Simulator 10 Crashing.
It's only after I exit the virual cockpit, a dialog box pops up that gives me the choice of exiting, click on exit and thats when it crashes everytime and wants to send info about a D3D.dll problem to microsoft.
It does'nt seem to matter what driver version I have, they over the year seem to have all had that problem.
If I uninstall the drivers the problem goes away.
Direct x and all system drivers are up to date that I know of.
Thanks in advance for any ideas that might help.
Michael.

Vista 32 bit Ultimate Home.
FSX Acceleration.
Gigabyte 965P-DS3.
Intel Q6600.
EVGA Akimo 8800GT.
4 Gigs Corsair XMS2 800 MHZ

3D Vizualizer Keeps Crashing on Startup

I have had the 3d visualizer program running and it always worked fine, as far as I can see I have changed nothing since it was last working, now everytime I launch the program it crashes and it pops up about sending an error report to Microsoft, the display on the iwear freezes and I have to unplug the USB and re insert to get the display to work again. The resolution is great, the gear it self looks and feels great on my head, but there are so many technical issues with the head-tracking system.

I have spent hours trying to calibrate these goggles and trying to get the gauges to fill up. I have read threads in the forums with tips on how to calibrate, but to this date I have yet found a game where I can move my head around IRL and the same movement appears in game. I am not talking about a few glitches here and there. What I am talking about is almost total randomness. I would look up and the character in game would look sideways, I would look sideways and the character would shake and perhaps look down.. there are no patterns. I would often start the game by look behind my self, like having eyes in the neck.

I have heard that the way the gear actually recognize the movement is just the same way as a compass would know which way is north. Is it possible that do to my location (way up north in Norway), that the goggles just won't work? I have no idea, but would like someone to respond just as well.. I have sort of given up, but I thought I could give it just one more chance if anyone had any ideas.

Issues

Hi,

Honestly im having so much issues with this thing its making me nuts !

If anybody from vuzzix corp or a user in the forums can help me with this it would be greatly appreciated.

Im getting this friggen error when i try to run the game

"using ARB_vertex_buffer_object memory
using ARB2 renderSystem
found DLL in pak file: C:\Program Files\DOOM 3\base\game03.pk4/gamex86.dll
copy gamex86.dll to C:\Program Files\DOOM 3\base\gamex86.dll
3 22 640 480
Regenerated world, staticAllocCount = 0.
Shutting down sound hardware
idRenderSystem::Shutdown()
Shutting down OpenGL subsystem
...wglMakeCurrent( NULL, NULL ): success
...deleting GL context: success
...releasing DC: success
...destroying window
...shutting down QGL
...unloading OpenGL DLL
wrong game DLL API version"

I have done exactly as said in the vuzix DOOM3 readme file the monitor says at STATUS installation .....ok..... and yes i did update the thing to V1.3 before adding it on the monitor.

Any help please as I woild like to play atleast one title with my VR920.

Tx

GOS

World of Warcraft Camera issues

Hello all, this is my first post.

I recieved a VR920 for my birthday back in July (god my girfriend loves me :D) When I first got it to be honest I didnt give it much time. I installed it and played on the demo games, threw it on WoW was amazed by the Stereoscopic enviroment, but i had a terrible flicker problem. As I do alot of Raiding on WoW I didnt have much time to troubleshoot and the unit got put to one side.

Recently with a new job I have much more time soare time on my hands and decided to give the unit the attentio it deserves. Ive managed to resolve the flicker by defaulting the VSync setting to Forced on, as this flicker was also occuring on Crysis and COD4 I knew it wasnt a WoW problem, Head Tracking works fine as does Stereoscopic on Crysis and COD4 however,, On wow the tracking works as to say it tracks when i move my head however it seems it defaults the Zero point camera view (usually at the rear looking at the back of the character) to an offset of 45 degrees to the right.

After much trawling of the forums I found a few posts but only one that seemed to match my problem, unfortunately there is no solution http://forums.vr920.com/Topic33-5-1.aspx?

If anyone else has experienced this issue and resolved it please give me a clue, a reply from Tech Support would also be appreciated.

If you require more info please just ask away.

Thanks in advance

Mick

aiming problem

hi there

i still got aiming problems when i play games like crysis or cod4 even hl2 while stereo 3d is engaged.
is there already a solution?

thank u
